Global Email Blocks allow you to design grouped elements that can be managed in bulk and inserted into your emails to streamline email creation.
How to access?
You can access the Global Email Blocks editor through two paths:
1. “Content > Global Email Blocks”. Click on Create Global Block to create a new block, or click an existing one to edit or duplicate it.
2. From the Email Editor, at the bottom of the Components panel, you’ll find the existing Global Blocks in your Store.
Interface
The Global Email Blocks editor consists of three sections:
1. Preview and save: to save or discard changes made and preview the final result of the created block.
2. Design: to visually build the global block using available structures and elements.
3. Tools: to configure all the block’s properties, add conditions and variables. This panel can be expanded or collapsed by clicking (Open tools) or (Close tools).
Functionality
The Global Email Blocks Editor is based on a drag-and-drop design method, allowing quick, easy, and highly visual assembly of global blocks.
1. Creating a new Global Block and setting its appearance
Go to “Content > Global Email Blocks” and, once inside, click in the upper right corner, Create Global Block to create a new block.
In the pop-up window, set your block's visual appearance and assign a name with keywords that help you identify it.
Then click Go to editor.
2. Edit general style of the Global Block
In the Tools panel (3), click on the General tab to edit the general appearance settings of your global block.
The parameters to define are:
- Global Block Name: to include the name that will identify the block in your Connectif Store.
- Color: to set the block’s background color and the general background color.
3. Add elements to the Global Block
In the Tools panel (3), click the Elements tab to build your layout by dragging and dropping the various components into the Design panel (2).
You can edit them by hovering over the element and clicking the (Edit element) button or directly on the content. You can also duplicate them with (Duplicate element), or delete them by clicking (Delete element).
The available elements are the same as those in the Email Editor.
4. Apply conditions to a Global Block
Apply a condition to your block to display it only if the contact meets the established condition. You can set the condition based on segment membership or on the value of a contact field.
To do this, in the Tools panel (3), click the “Conditions > Add condition” tab.
To set a condition based on the value of a contact field, choose the Contact Fields option.
Then, choose the Field, the Operator, and the Value that the field should contain for the block to be shown to the contact.
To set a condition based on whether or not the contact belongs to one or more segments, choose the Segment option.
In Select the operator, choose whether the contact must belong to one of the specified segments, all, none, or not belong to any or all.
Finally, select the segment(s) that will act as a conditional filter.
Click Apply. This way, Connectif will only display this block to contacts who meet that condition.
5. Review the Global Block variables
Review the created variables and how many times they are used in text elements from the Tools panel (3), in the Variables tab. To edit their format, click (Edit).
If you recently added a new variable and it doesn't appear, click (Refresh).
6. Insert a Global Block into an Email
Once the Global Block is configured and saved, you can add it to your emails.
Go to “Content > Emails” and click Create email to generate a new one, or click on an existing email to edit or duplicate it.
Inside the Email Editor, go to the bottom of the Components panel and drag the global block to the desired location.
Finish configuring the appearance of your email to adapt it to your strategy and save it to be able to send it through a workflow.
