Connectif offers the possibility of exporting a workflow into a file that you can share. Once exported, it's possible to import that workflow to any Connectif account.
When we export a workflow, we don't export just the structure, al so their references: contents and forms. That means that, by exporting and importing workflows, you can replicate your strategies in different Connectif accounts.
How to export a workflow
You can export a workflow from the listing or from the editor.
When exporting, a download of a ".cn" export file will start will start.
Notes on exportation
- A workflow can be exported no matter the status: draft, active, paused, finalized or scheduled.
- You can export any workflow, except those that have custom-made integrations.
- The segments and custom fields that you have in the workflow will also be included in the export file. But, unlike the contents and the forms, they will not be created in the import, they will try to match with the existing ones in the destined account.
- If you have included any product as a filter for a node, this filter will be excluded from the export.
- The references to integrated forms are also excluded.
How to import a workflow
To import a workflow, you must first access to the "create a new workflow" page. Here, you can see an option that allows you to import workflows. You can both click in it or drag & drop your ".cn" file into that area.
Once the file is imported, the workflow will be created and opened automatically. Here, you can check the workflow, change contents (if necessary) and solve problems or alerts (if there are any).
If you display the incident panel, you can see any incident associated with the nodes.
Notes on importation
- The workflow will be in the drafts once imported.
- Custom fields: When importing, the system checks to see if the custom fields have been defined in the account that is carrying the action. They must match in name, type and values available (if there are) with the exported ones. If they aren't, they will be deleted and Connectif will show a message alert regarding this node.
- Segments: Connectif will try to reuse the segments of contacts and products that are defined. This will be done by checking the name and setup of the segment. If Connectif doesn't find a match for the segments, it will deactivate, and an error will be shown in the workflow.
- Contents and forms: to a certain extend, Connectif will try to reuse existing contents and forms, as long as they've been created in previous imports. The condition for this to occur is to not have been previously modified. If that happened, Connectif will create new contents and forms.
Points to keep in mind about theses processes
- When exporting a workflow, keep in mind that, both nodes and contents & forms, can contain URLs and/or scripts (like javascript) that go to your website and could not be appropriate for the destined account on the import process. Because of that, check the node before exporting or importing a workflow, specially those "on page visit" or the ones that deal with contents and forms. Remember to check those that contain blocks of HTML content.
- As long as you are not the author of the exportation, make sure the file comes from sources you trust. Connectif allows the inclusion of scripts from contents and it's the responsability of the user to ensure that those scripts are suitable.
