Bounced Emails: Types and Causes

Currently, there are two different types of bounce in emails:

  • Permanent.
  • Temporary.

Permanent bounces are those where the user's email address cannot be found and it is not possible to send the email. This is usually due to misspelled email addresses or addresses that no longer exist.

Temporary bounces are those where the content has not been delivered for other reasons:

  • Data saturation on the server
  • User's inbox is full
  • Sending too much information
  • Connection failures
  • Sender suspicions.

Since Connectif operates independently from platforms that may influence these checks, it does not act on them but simply records the temporary bounces it receives from the server sending the emails.

In user profiles where a total of 3 temporary bounces or 1 permanent bounce occurs, the value of the Email Status field becomes Bounced, which means that it will henceforth be ignored by the "Send email" nodes.

In other words, a user who accumulates one permanent bounce or three temporary bounces will no longer receive emails from Connectif.
