Increase your eCommerce sales opportunities by recommending personalized products on the product page, using a recommender created with inline web content.
In this article, you’ll learn how to create an inline recommender on the product page.
How it works
To display the product recommender, we will configure an inline web content in the workflow that appears below the product page when a contact visits that product. Depending on the number of recommendations provided by the algorithm, we will show either a static inline or a carousel inline.
Workflow configuration
STEP 1. "Start" Node
(This node defines the audience to receive the action).
1. Click (Edit node settings) for the “Start” node.
2. Under Select a restriction, check "Entire list".
3. Under Select the data source, check "All existing and new".
4. Click Apply.
STEP 2. “When visiting a product” Node
(This node will detect contacts who visit a product).
5. Click (Edit node settings) of the “When visiting a product” node.
6. Click on Limitations, then uncheck "Disable after triggered".
7. Click Apply.
STEP 3. First “Get products” Node
(This node will retrieve products automatically related to the visited product, from the same category and brand).
8. Click (Edit node settings) of the “Get products” node.
9. To select use cases, drag Automatically related to a product to the right block and click Next .
10. In Main case settings, select "12" in Number of products to retrieve.
11. In Imported data, select “Product (When visiting a product)”.
12. Click + Add another condition and from the dropdown choose “Categories”. On the right, select “Imported data” and after clicking “Select imported data”, choose “When visiting a product > Categories”.
13. Click + Add another condition and from the dropdown choose “Brand”. On the right, select “Imported data” and after clicking “Select imported data”, choose “When visiting a product > Brand”.
14. In Select an order, choose "Sort by descending rating" and enable "Randomly reorder retrieved products".
15. Click Next .
16. In Summary, locate the section Number of products to retrieve and set “12”. Then, uncheck “Fill products up to selected limit” and check “Exclude products exported by previous nodes”.
17. Click Apply.
STEP 4. “Check value” Node
(This node checks if the list of recommended products is larger than 4).
18. Click (Edit node settings) of the “Check value” node.
19. Drag the "List size" field from "Get products" to the left block.
20. In the "Operator" column, select "Is greater than".
21. Drag the Literal field to the right block and set the value to "4".
22. Click Apply.
STEP 5. First "Send web content: inline" Node
(This node will send an inline containing a product carousel).
23. On the connector from the previous node, click the circle until "Yes" appears.
24. Click (Edit node settings) of the “Send web content” node.
25. Select the corresponding Inline content and click Next .
26. In Configuration, add the appropriate selector to display the content and click Next .
27. In the Variables step, map any variables if needed.
28. Click Apply.
STEP 6. Second “Get products” Node
(This node retrieves the most visited products in the last month, based on the visited product’s category and brand).
29. On the connector from the previous node, click the circle until "No" appears.
30. Click (Edit node settings) of the “Get products” node.
31. To select use cases, drag "Most visited products" to the right block and "Best-selling products" to the additional case. Then click Next .
32. In Main case settings, select "12" under Number of products to retrieve.
33. Click + Add another condition and select “Categories”. On the right, select “Imported data” and after clicking “Select imported data”, choose “When visiting a product Categories”.
34. Click + Add another condition and select “Brand”. On the right, select “Imported data” and after clicking “Select imported data”, choose “When visiting a product Brand”.
35. Under Select the visit time period, choose "Most visited in the last month" and enable "Randomly reorder retrieved products". Click Next .
36. In Additional case settings, select "12" under Number of products to retrieve.
37. Click + Add another condition and select “Categories”. On the right, select “Imported data” and after clicking “Select imported data”, choose “When visiting a product Categories”.
38. Under Select the visit time period, choose "Best-selling in the last month" and enable "Randomly reorder retrieved products". Click Next .
39. In Summary, locate the section Number of products to retrieve and set “12”. Then enable “Exclude products exported by previous nodes”.
40. Click Apply.
STEP 7. Second "Send web content: inline" Node
(This node will send an inline with a product carousel).
41. Click (Edit node settings) of the “Send web content” node.
42. Select the corresponding Inline content and click Next .
43. In Configuration, add the appropriate selector to display the content and click Next .
44. In the Variables step, map any variables if needed.
45. Click Apply.
