Custom integration for sending data from Connectif

From Connectif, it is possible to send information to an external system or application. Through a custom integration, you can synchronize existing data in Connectif with other platforms.

In this article, you will learn how to create a custom integration to send data from Connectif.

Implementation time: 15 minutes.
Difficulty: Medium
When to use it: When it is necessary to send data from Connectif to external systems or applications.

To carry out this type of integration, you will need an expert with programming knowledge.

STEP 1 - Creating the custom integration

If you are working with an ERP, we recommend following these steps to synchronize the data of the contacts who submit a form in Connectif.

1. Go to Store Settings in the left sidebar menu. In the tab selector, navigate to "Integrations > Custom Integrations (Webhooks)" and click   Create new integration.

2. Set the "Integration Name" field to identify the integration.

3. (Optional) Customize the color, include a description, or categorize the integration.

4. Click  Save.

STEP 2 - Configuring the "Send Data" event

(In this section, you will configure the fields that will be shared with the external platform).

5. In the Send Data tab, click  Create new send event.

It is important that the email field is of type email and is marked as Mandatory and Primary Key, as it will be used to identify the contact.

7. Repeat the action indicated in step 6 as many times as fields you want to send.

8. In "Webhook URL to send the message", paste the link to the webhook generated in the external system or application that will receive the data from Connectif.

A webhook is a method that waits for an event to occur, in this case in Connectif, and reacts by transferring the data to another application or system using an HTTP call.

9. Click  Save and, on the confirmation screen, click  Return to event list.

STEP 3 - Sending data from Connectif

(This section explains how to send data from Connectif through a workflow).

10. Access the Workflows section from the left sidebar menu, click  Create new workflow and select  Create blank workflow.

11. Build your workflow structure with a trigger node, such as "On form submission", and an action node "Action [name of your integration].”

12. In the "On form submission" node, click  (Edit node settings).

13. In the Data tab, verify that the data collected by the "On form submission" node is correct.

The form must collect all the fields expected to be sent to the external system, and their data types must match.

However, the field identifiers do not need to be the same, as the relationship between them will be established in step 16.

14. Click  Return to workflow.

15. In the "Action [name of your integration]” node, click  (Edit node settings).

16. Map the variables to assign the information collected from the form to the corresponding fields in the custom integration.

17. Click  Update.

18. In the workflow, click  Save to save the changes and  Start to activate it.

Extra: Creating a Dynamic Plus Segment for the integration

With Connectif, you can create a Dynamic Plus Segment to filter activities and fields related to the custom integration.

To learn how to create a Dynamic Plus Segment with contacts from your integration, check out this article.

Once you create a segment of contacts from the custom integration, it cannot be deleted. Additionally, if any of its fields are used as segmentation conditions, they cannot be deleted or edited either.
