Facebook integration

In this article, we'll explain everything for you to connect your Facebook Ads account with Connectif.

Integration settings

The Facebook integration can be found in the "Ads and Audiences" section of the integrations page.



Aside from the set up of the connector, like in other integrations, we can see the general settings. For example, the color of the nodes.

Connector settings

Before we begin, make sure that you have a Facebook account with an Ads account already set up (see how to create Ad account).

After that, link the account, so that we can click "Connect". A Facebook window will pop up to ask for a log in and for us to accept the permits required.


Once the process is complete, Connectif will send a message validating the authorization from Facebook.

To finish up with the connector setup, we must select one of the Ads accounts, if there are more than one.


Finally, after saving, the integration settings will be updated.

NOTE: in the validation message (see image) you can see an expiration date. When that date is near, we'll have to set the integration up again to obtain a new Facebook authorization. We'll need to click "Connect again". Also, Connectif will tell you if you try to execute an operation via Facebook and the previous authorization has expired.

Segment export

Once the integration is set up, we can start to work on our audiences. 

To export segments we'll go to the "Segments" page and click on "export to Facebook". We can also select a particular segment by clicking in "more" and then "export to Facebook".



NOTE: it's important to clarify that the audience must be of the "client list" type, since only those kinds of custom audiences will appear in the list. 

The audience created by Facebook's Bussiness Manager must contain at least one email address. If it doesn't it won't be possible to select it in Connectif.

In the audience creation process, when we're trying to create from a customer list, we will choose "copy and paste" and then insert the email address.


In the next screen, we'll select the segment that we want to export and the destined audience.


Click on "next".


A new page will appear that grants us access to the list of exportations. We can also see this list in the segments page.


In this page, we can see the progress of the exports. We can also cancel them if it's necessary.


With that, our integration will be complete and our audience exported to Facebook, so we're ready to begin working with it.

Visit detection

"On page visited from Facebook" node



Using this node, we can detect visits coming from Facebook and create workflows that depend on that event. In the settings page, we can set up the conditions that we want for the event to trigger. If we don't, it will trigger after any visit from Facebook to our site. The conditions that we can work with are the following: 

  • Campaign: here, we can set up which campaigns we want to filter by. The field on the right autocompletes as we write letters from the campaign we want to select. We can add as many campaigns as we want as a filter condition. We can also control if there are inclusion filters or exclusion filters.


  • Ad: an specific ad that we want to filter the visits. The field on the right works the same as in "campaign".


  • Is mobile: allows us to filter the visit (or not) if it comes from a mobile device.


How do campaign and ad conditions work

For Connectif to detect a campaign or ad from which there has been a visit to our site it's important that the link includes the parameters of the campaign/ad. You can change that from the administration page in Facebook Ads, inside the setting of the campaign/ad. 


In this guide, you can read a detailed explanation of how to set up our add to expose data that will allow us to identify that it is an ad or campaign. 

Thanks to Connectif's detection algorithm, we can detect ads and campaigns by name or ID as long as those are specified as part of any parameter of the URL linked.

NOTE: avoid using names that are already taken for campaigns or ads. This can result, according to the settings of our dynamic parameters, in false positives when it comes to the activation of the "on page visited from Facebook" node. This means that the node will register visits even if it's not the wanted ad or campaign, since the names are the same.

"On page visited from Instagram" node

Works exactly the same way as the previous node, only difference in this case is that it detects the visits coming from Instagram, instead of Facebook.
