Increase your eCommerce sales prospects by recommending personalized products on the product page, via a recommender created with inline web content.
In this article, you'll learn how to create an inline recommender on a product page.
How it works
To display the product recommender, we’ll configure inline web content in the workflow that will appear after the product page when a contact is visiting it. Depending on the number of recommended products provided by the algorithm, it’ll display a piece of static or carousel inline content.
Workflow configuration
STEP 1. "Start" node
(This node will set the target audience for the action).
1. Click (Edit node settings) for the “Start” node.
2. Under Select limitation, check "All my list".
3. Under Select data source, check “All existing and new”.
4. Click Update.
STEP 2. “On product visit" node
(This node will detect contacts who visit a product).
5. Click (Edit node settings) in the "On product visit" node.
6. Click Limitations and uncheck the "Deactivate after triggering" box.
7. Click Update.
STEP 3. First “Fetch products” node
(This node will fetch the products that are automatically related to the one visited, of the same category and brand).
8. Click (Edit node settings) in the “Fetch products” node.
9. To select the use cases, drag Automatically related to a product to the block on the right and click Next .
10. In Main use case settings, select "12" in the Number of products to fetch.
11. For Imported data, select "Product (On visiting a product)".
12. Click +Add another condition and select “Categories” from the dropdown. On the right, select “Imported data” and, after clicking “Select imported data”, choose “On product visit Categories”.
13. Click + Add another condition and select “Brand” from the dropdown. On the right, select “Imported data” and, after clicking “Select imported data”, choose “On product visit Categories”.
14. In Select order, choose "Sort by descending rating" and check the box "Shuffle the fetched products".
15. Click Next .
16. In Summary, locate the section Number of products to fetch and indicate “12”. Then uncheck "Fill with products until selected limit" and check "Exclude the products exported by the nodes before this one".
17. Click Complete .
STEP 4. “Check value” node
(This node checks if the size of the returned list of recommended products is greater than four).
18. Click (Edit node settings) of the “Check value” node.
19. Drag the "List size" field from "Fetch products" to the block on the left.
20. In the "Operator" column select "Is greater than".
21. Drag the Literal field to the block on the right and set a value of "4".
22. Click Update.
STEP 5. First “Send web content: inline” node
(This node will send inline content with a product carousel).
23. At the junction of this node with the previous one, click on the circle until "Yes" appears.
24. Click (Edit node settings) in the “Send web content” node.
25. Select the corresponding inline content and click Next .
26. In Settings add the appropriate selector to display the content and click Next
27. In the Variables step, link any variables there may be.
28. Click Complete .
STEP 6. Second “Fetch products” node
(This node will obtain the most visited products of the last month from the category and brand of the product visited).
29. At the junction of this node with the previous one, click on the circle until "No" appears.
30. Click (Edit node settings) in the “Fetch products” node.
31. To select the use cases, drag "Most visited products" to the block on the right and "Best sellers" to the additional use case. Click Next .
32. In Main use case settings, select "12" for Number of products to fetch.
33. Click +Add another condition and select “Categories” from the dropdown. On the right, select “Imported data” and, after clicking “Select imported data”, choose “On product visit Categories”.
34. Click + Add another condition and select “Brand” from the dropdown. On the right, select “Imported data” and, after clicking “Select imported data”, choose “On product visit Categories”.
35. Under Select the time period of the visits, choose "Most visited of the last month" and check the "Shuffle the fetched products” box. Click Next .
36. In Additional case settings, select "12" for Number of products to fetch.
37. Click +Add another condition and select “Categories” from the dropdown. On the right, select “Imported data” and, after clicking “Select imported data”, choose “On product visit Categories”.
38. Under Select the time period of the visits, choose "Best sellers in the last month" and check the "Shuffle the fetched products” box. Click Next .
39. In Summary, locate the section Number of products to fetch and indicate “12”. Next, activate "Exclude the products exported by the nodes before this one".
40. Click Complete .
STEP 7. Second “Send web content: inline” node
(This node will send inline content with a product carousel).
41. Click (Edit node settings) in the “Send web content” node.
42. Select the corresponding inline content and click Next .
43. In Settings add the appropriate selector to display the content and click Next
44. In the Variables step, link any variables there may be.
45. Click Complete .
