Cart Recovery URL

Questo articolo è attualmente disponibile in inglese e spagnolo. Puoi fare riferimento a questa documentazione mentre arriva nella tua lingua.

The Cart Recovery URL is a property included in the "Current cart state" tag. This field stores in the contact's cart a URL to recover the items related to that cart. This URL can be used in workflows and contents to recover the items related to that cart.

This article explains how the Cart Recovery URL works and how it is used in Connectif.

1. Properties

1.1. About the use of the Cart Recovery URL

  • The Cart Recovery URL is not a URL generated by Connectif; the client sends it to Connectif through their integration to use it in Workflows and Contents.
  • This URL must be valid and allowed in the Authorized Domains (""Store Settings > Web > Advanced Settings"); otherwise, that URL will not be stored.

Learn how to add the Cart Recovery URL to the Authorized Domains by following Step 1 of this article.

  • Currently, Connectif offers to generate and send this URL from the integration of Shopify, Magento 2, and custom integrations.
  • This URL is not available in integrations with WooCommerce, PrestaShop, VTEX Legacy, or VTEX IO.

1.2. About the Cart Recovery URL field

  • This field allows storing in Connectif, in the cart of each contact, a URL with the items related to that cart.

2. How does Cart URL recovery work in each CMS

Each CMS manages this type of cart recovery URL differently depending on which integration it is in:

No changes need to be made in Connectif to collect this URL since it will be collected directly within the "Current cart state" tag.

a. How does this URL work in Shopify

The Cart recovery URL in Shopify is a URL that contains the exact information of the products that the customer has in their cart at any given time, including information about variants (sizes, colors, etc.) and quantities.

When the contact visits that URL, which takes them directly to the cart page, all the content of the current session's cart that the contact could have is replaced.

This is not the URL that Shopify generates for abandoned checkouts and that directs the contact to the checkout. The URL that Connectif stores is always available and can be visited by the contact even if the customer has never visited the checkout page.

b. How does this URL work in Magento 2

It is essential to have the version of the Connectif module for Magento 2 higher than 1.16.0.

The Cart recovery URL in Magento is a URL that contains the native Magento cart identifier. Through that cart identifier, information about variants (sizes, colors, etc.) and quantities is retrieved in Magento itself.

When the contact visits that URL, which takes them directly to the cart page, all the content of the current session's cart that the contact could have is replaced with the content recovered using the Magento cart identifier.

Out-of-stock products at that moment are not added to the cart.

If the contact did not have any active cart at that moment, a new one would be created and assigned.

c. How does this URL work in custom integrations

In custom integrations, the behavior of the Cart recovery URL when the contact visits it will depend on the implementation that the Ecommerce has made, as each Ecommerce can decide its own behavior in these cases.

3. How to use this URL in Connectif

To obtain the Cart recovery URL through a workflow, it must be done through the node "Get last cart" and "On cart abandonment", subsequently, mapped in the variables of the content to be displayed or sent.

Below is an example with the "Get last cart" node, based on a monthly cart recovery strategy, available in Connectif's workflow templates.

Cart Recovery URL - 1-min.png

Through the "Get last cart" node, the Cart recovery URL to be sent in the "Send email" node, where a variable that includes it has been configured.

Cart Recovery URL - 2-min.png

When configuring the "Send email" node, this variable (right column) must be associated with the Cart recovery URL (left column).

Cart Recovery URL - 3-min.png

With this, in this workflow, an email with the Cart recovery URL will be sent to each contact.

You have reached the end of the lesson.
